OCD Checking Water Faucets SO

Look

When we check water faucets we only look at the end of the nozzle where the water comes out, and we only look at the nozzle for the rest of the check. We’re looking to make sure no water is coming out. If you have a leaky faucet then continue with the check as laid out until it can be fixed.

Lock

We imagine an electric drill is suspended in the basin below with a large screw in its nozzle. It is upside down with screw facing towards the ceiling. The screw is just big enough to fit inside the nozzle. So we see and hear the screw being driven inside the nozzle, blocking the water from coming out. At no point does the imaginary screw actually damage the nozzle.

Label

While still looking at the real faucet imagine a metal armband is being attached to your upper arm. Then imagine a red water faucet is being screwed into this armband. Once the imaginary faucet is securely in, attach an imaginary small bell to the end of it. Then screw in a blue water faucet to represent the real cold faucet. Attach wind a small set of wind chimes to the end of this imaginary faucet.

Leave

The check is now complete. To remember if the faucet has been checked properly just see that imaginary armband in your imagination. Those wind chimes and bells also continue clanging away as you’re moving.
