When we check water faucets we only look at the end of the nozzle where the water comes out, and we only look at the nozzle for the rest of the check. We’re looking to make sure no water is coming out. If you have a leaky faucet then continue with the check as laid out until it can be fixed.

We imagine an electric drill is suspended in the basin below with a large screw in its nozzle. It is upside down with screw facing towards the ceiling. The screw is just big enough to fit inside the nozzle. So we see and hear the screw being driven inside the nozzle, blocking the water from coming out. At no point does the imaginary screw actually damage the nozzle.
Label
Next, we label the screw to a body part. For the bathroom faucets, I label the screws to my right upper arm. For you, any body part will do but it’s always best to label in a sequential order depending on your checking routine.So to label I imagine an electric drill is suspended next to my upper arm, then I hear and feel it drill two holes right through the bone clean right through to the other side. Then it drives in a blue-headed screw that represents the cold tap through the top hole and a red-headed tap through the lower hole to represent the hot tap.
