OCD Checking Wallet and Keys

IMPORTANT

When using this system for our wallet and keys our objective is to remind ourselves that we have them on us without having to constantly recheck our bag or pockets. So although we’ll have our keys/wallets and purse on us we’ll still label them inside our stomachs and simply unwrap the armor should we worry that we’ve lost them.

Look

We first look inside our wallet/purse to make sure we have the cards and cash that we’ll likely need on our journey. For instance, if we’re going to the gym we make sure we have our gym card. If catching a train we make sure we have our train pass. We do not have to check we have all our cards, just the ones we’ll need.

Lock

This process is slightly different from the rest of the system. For our cards in our wallet that we’ll need we imagine substitute images that represent those particular cards. For instance, we use the image of a small dumbbell to represent our gym card. A small toy train carriage represents our train pass. Our EFT-POS is represented by a miniature money machine. Each image is small enough to swallow. I’ll explain why next. For cash, we can use the substitute image of small coins.

Label

As we’re physically looking at each card we imagine those substitute images sliding down our throat one by one. We actually open our mouths and feel them slid down our throats, all the way down into our stomachs. Once they’ve each reached our stomachs one by one, we imagine them rumbling around inside like a washing machine. This kinda movement helps us to remember they’re there.

Leave

We still seal of the area by putting on the armor. For our stomachs we just imagine a piece of armor sealing off the inside lining of the tummy wall. Should we worry that we haven’t got our keys/wallet on us all we need to do is unseal the armor then feel and see those images rumbling inside our tummy. Then reseal the armor.
